Thoughts on Silence

I used to be afraid of silence, a rare commodity in my life as a home-schooling mother of so many littles when even a trip to the dentist felt like a five-star vacation. On the few occasions when I was able to break free from my children’s needs, I felt overwhelmed by silence’s void and would quickly turn the radio on to remedy the situation.

However, over the past several years, I've learned to embrace silence and to let my thoughts fill the space.

A chest cold during Christmas week gave me ample time to practice this skill (while resting, reflecting, and writing). I tried my best to take advantage of the rare time away from people and activity.

When I looked back over my journal entries from that week, one common theme I noticed was a desire for my work as a creative individual to have a positive impact on as many people as possible.

I suppose that’s a bit part of the reason I write and share what I write.

I write to find the stories within that need to be witnessed and understood. I share so others don’t feel alone in their self-discovery journey. AND, I am creating space for others to join me through Monthy Writing Prompt Journeys and bi-monthly Writing Circles

As a creative (and an Enneagram 4), I can’t tell you how much it means to have you along on this journey with me.

Thank you for being here. I’m thankful for your support, readership, and for this community!

Each month I will curate a collection of Reflections on Re-becoming (aka, journaling prompts). These Monthly Writing Prompt Journeys are designed to help you discover and witness the whispers of your inner hero, keeping you busy writing for a month.

Today, I share January’s 31-Day Journaling Guide called Reflect and Reimagine”- a combination of prompts curated to help you reflect on the past year and launch into the new year.
