Helping Women Reclaim Their Voice Through Journaling

Loss of self can happen so slowly that you don’t even notice it—until one day, you wake up and realize you’ve forgotten who you are.

Breaking Free

My journey of re-becoming started within the walls of my own mind. I wasn’t just battling external challenges. My hardest fight was against myself: my own thoughts, beliefs, and the loss of my identity. I grew up with ideologies that silenced my voice and erased my sense of self-worth, leaving me questioning the narratives I was living by.

Everything shifted in late 2019, when life under those conditions no longer worked. My marriage was crumbling. I was drowning in responsibilities, a homeschooling mother of six, including a newborn and children with complex medical needs. My life revolved around everyone but myself. I had been living under beliefs that told me I didn't matter, my voice had no value, my own thoughts couldn't be trusted.

I felt trapped. By my circumstances, my own beliefs, and a life that no longer felt like my own.
The turning point came with one simple but profound realization: I mattered.

Something had to change.

Writing Myself into a New Story

I turned to journaling, not because I had a plan, but because I needed to hear myself think. I started putting my unfiltered thoughts on paper, letting the words pour out before I could judge them.

At first, I didn't know where to start. At a friend’s recommendation, I began working through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, which provided writing prompts that helped me discover who I truly was underneath the societal conditioning and the expectations. Page by page, I found my voice.

Throgh journaling, I unraveling the tangled beliefs that had kept me stuck. I saw patterns I hadn’t noticed before. I heard truths I had silenced. I found glimpses of hope where I thought there were none. I began questioning the internalized narratives that told me I was unworthy, replacing them with new ones grounded in self-compassion and possibility.

Through writing, I found my way back to myself.

The Birth of Barely a Whisper

As I healed, I began to rediscover the passions I had left behind. Journaling helped me reconnect with my creativity, confidence, and agency. I realized that if I could write myself out of self-abandonment, then maybe I could help others do the same.

I wasn’t sure how, at first. I enrolled in a writing group and noticed my words naturally shifted toward poetry rather than prose. I ran with it, letting my pen move freely in my journaling sessions and class time. Those poems, often written through tears, became my first published poetry memoir Barely a Whisper: Poems from the Heart of a Woman Re-becoming. It reach #1 in newly released religious and spiritual poetry, someting I'm still a little in awe of.

The response affirmed something I already believed: journaling isn't just a personal practice.  It's a means of connection and shared healing.

Helping Others Find Their Voices

I discovered that writing is more than an act of self-expression. It is a tool for self-discovery, clarity, and transformation. Now, I am dedicated to helping others reconnect with their inner voices and reclaim their agency through journaling.

I created the From a Whisper to a Roar Journaling Circle as a safe space for women to explore their own stories. Through workshops, guided prompts, and writing circles, I help people from all walks of life use journaling as a tool for clarity, purpose, and personal growth.

My mission is simple: to help women hear their inner voice, trust their inner hero, and live a life of their own making. Through circles, workshops, guides, or my poetry and prose, even the faintest whisper of your truth can become a roar.

Your voice matters. Your story matters. And its still unfolding. You are its hero.

Let’s write together.
