A Guide For Self-Connection and Self-Love: Journal Prompts for February
- Feb 1
- 2 min read
February is often considered the month of love—typically associated with romance.
But this month, let’s turn that love inward.
Through self-knowledge and self-acceptance, we can cultivate a deeper sense of self-love.
Learning to love myself has been the most meaningful work I’ve ever done.
I began by having conversations with myself through the pages of my journal. As I wrote and bore witness to myself, the good, the hurt, the talents, the maladaptive behaviors.... all of it, I came to see myself in a different light and truly love myself. It was about a five-year journey that didn't start until I was 39!
I wrote the following journaling prompts to guide you in discovering, embracing, and celebrating yourself more fully.

Journaling Prompts for Reflection
Here are some journaling prompts to guide your reflection this February:
My deepest joy is found when...
I feel safest when...
My greatest fear is...
I can show myself love by...
These prompts encourage deep thinking and self-discovery. Take your time with each one. Allow your thoughts to flow freely onto the page.
A Space to Journal Together
If you’ve been craving a place to write and reflect in community, I’d love to invite you to join my From a Whisper to a Roar Journaling Circle.
We gather twice a month, on Fridays at 9:00 AM EST.
This isn’t a workshop or a class. It’s a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can come as you are. We begin with breathwork and meditation, then move into prompts and poetic inspiration. We write in silence and end with an optional reflection. You can share or simply be held in the quiet presence of others who are also doing this work.
The Importance of Community in Reflection
Being part of a community can enhance your journaling experience. Sharing thoughts and feelings with others can provide new perspectives. It can also create a sense of belonging. In our journaling circle, you’ll find support and encouragement. This shared space allows for deeper exploration of your thoughts.
Creating Your Own Reflection Space
If joining a circle isn’t possible for you, consider creating your own reflection space at home. Here are some tips:
Choose a quiet spot: Find a place where you feel comfortable and free from distractions.
Set a regular time: Consistency can help you build a journaling habit.
Gather your materials: Have your journal, pens, and any other supplies ready.
Limit distractions: Put your phone away and turn off notifications.
Final Thoughts
Learning to love ourselves is the biggest gift we can give ourselves and those around us. When we come to a place of acceptance for ourselves, it becomes easier to embrace those around us as well. It all starts with learning to be comfortable being with ourselves in the silence and with our own thoughts. One way to practice this skill is by journaling.
Whether you join a community or create your own space, allow yourself to explore your thoughts. Remember, the journey is just as important as the destination.
