January Journaling Prompts: Reflect and Reimagine

I used to be afraid of silence, a rare commodity in my former life as a homeschooling mother of so many littles, when even a trip to the dentist felt like a five-star vacation. On the few occasions when I was able to break free from my children’s needs, the quiet felt overwhelming. I would quickly turn the radio on to fill the void.

Over the past several years, however, I've learned to embrace silence and to let my thoughts fill the space.

January is a dark and quiet month, and for that reason, I find it especially powerful. So, this month, I invite you to linger in the silence, creating a space to reflect, reimagine, and gently listen for what wants to emerge.

January is often filled with resolutions, goals, and intentions. Rather than pushing forward, this month’s journaling prompts are designed to help you slow down: to reflect on the year behind you, look thoughtfully toward the year ahead, and ground yourself in the present moment.

A Space to Journal Together

If you’ve been craving a place to write and reflect in community, I’d love to invite you to join my From a Whisper to a Roar Journaling Circle.

We gather twice a month, on Fridays at 9:00 AM EST.

This isn’t a workshop or a class. It’s a supportive, non-judgmental space to come as you are. We begin with breathwork and meditation, then move into prompts and poetic inspiration. We write in silence and end with an optional reflection. You can share or be held in the quiet presence of others who are also doing this work.
